If you are having issues with sound then download the driver from your MOBO's manufacturer's website.

Me too. Nothing works. And the most frustrating thing is that when I try to install the latest Windows drivers (I believe they are dated 8/18/15), Windows won't allow me to install them. And yep....I've also tried removing the old drivers before instaling the new ones from the Windows Update site.....same issue. Windows won't allow me to install the new drivers.

On the ASUS website for my Motherboard (Maximus VI Hero) under audio drivers it lists 7525 as the latest drivers for Windows 10. I figured these new updates from Realtek were the same just newer. Am I wrong?
This could be why its not working seems Asus has taken to really customizing your audio you have audio from the The Republic of Gamers (ROG) and it is something called ROG SupremeFX 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC, now i'm not sure if this is why the realtek are not working for you. But i'm willing to bet it's a factor in all of it, i would reach out to the Republic of Gamers (ROG) forums and ask them. here is the address ----->ASUS Republic of Gamers [ROG] | The Choice of Champions – Overclocking, PC Gaming, PC Modding, Support, Guides, Advice i sure hope they figure it out for you, you have to remember on this your board audio is customized.

Thank you for this. I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I am just confused why the driver listed on their website (windows 10 64-bit OS) doesn't work right while the driver from the original CD (for Windows 7 64-bit) works fine.

I bet it's because of the way your audio is customized you might have to wait till asus brings them to you, but as long as you audio is working with the win 7 drivers i wouldn't worry to much on it at this point.

According to the HD Audio Manager the Windows 7 drivers are DirectX11.0 and the Windows 10 drivers are DirectX12.0.

yes but that will not make a difference for you at all as windows 10 dx12 is backward compatible with other versions thus if you have something that is only dx11 you will only see dx11 if it supports dx12 you will see it.

Well one works right and the other doesn't.
