    Hi,

I'm not surprised by that that's why I suggested expand.exe to extract the files.
There is a setup.exe inside the cab file too..

    Cheers,

Hi fdegrove. I always thought the .cab files for the Realtek HD drivers contained a setup.exe file. However I downloaded the .cab file for build 7960 64-bit Anniversary edition, unpacked it and guess what, no setup.exe file.
I went back to the MUC and downloaded build 7959, unpacked it and there was a setup.exe file.
So figure that inconsistency out, I certainly can't.

    Hi,
    @DooGie: Yeah, I noticed that too. Setup.exe isn't really required when you're updating a pre-existing installed one.
Version 7962 does contain a setup.exe file. No idea why though. May be at Asus' request?

    Cheers,

I've never seen 7962 as a cab file. I downloaded it from Realtek ftp as a zip file where it had the ASUS tag.
The build 7962 that asturias7 posted the MediaFire link to doesn't have any mention of ASUS either in the file name or more importantly inside the zip file. Anyway it sounds pretty good to me :)

I spoke to a tech guy who has contacts with Realtek. At this point he doesn't know the status of their FTP server.
But, he did email me with their latest update (sent as a zip file). I decided to upload it & share it here.*UPDATE*Realtek HD Audio build 7962 WHQLPackage version PG4527962_PG452_Win10_TH_RS_Win8.1_Win8_Win7_WHQL
With the last few versions, I have found the "Loudness Equalization" setting I set gets turned off on every reboot. Does anyone know if 7962 still does that? (or not remember any other setting)

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Sorry I don't know, I never use Loudness Equalization. I honestly don't see the point of it, it just compresses the sound.

It's probably best you just give build 7962 a try and see if it solves your problem.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I just need it for games, at least for using speakers.. An example would be the smg in Left 4 Dead 2, it's way too loud if I don't use that setting. That setting also brings out more distant sounds for a bit of an advantage in other games.

The setting failing to be sticky is no big deal really, since I rarely reboot anyway. I did notice a little earlier in this thread that someone else had a similar issue with another setting not being sticky like it should.

OK IntelliMoo I set Loudness Equalization to on, Played a couple of mp3s then rebooted. When I opened up Realtek HD audio Manager after reboot the Loudness Equalization was set to off, so no the setting is not surviving reboots. I've no idea why not.

Thank you for checking that out, I greatly appreciate it. :) So it must be something with the last few driver versions. I was just hoping they cleared that up with 7962+ and why a new one is taking so long to get on MUC.

The only reason I can think of IntelliMoo is that Realtek are concentrating on making their ftp server more secure for the future as it's apparently been hammered recently. However I would have thought build 1962 would have been up on MUC by now.
Hopefully there will be new builds on MUC by the end of the week (only my guess).

So I installed the latest update 7962... I don't like it.
Sound seems muffled up, I'm going back to 7960.
