    Awesome thread.

By the way, version 6.0.1.7580 is available, last updated 8/10/2015. Interestingly, I am only able to find the 64-bit on there as of now. However, that is no problem for me.

Something that allowed me to install when other methods were failing was to:

    • Run devmgmt.msc and disable current Realtek High Definition Audio driver (not 100% sure if necessary)
    • Kill the running Realtek HD Audio Manager task (RAVCpl64.exe on my system)
    • Extract the updated driver .cab file to a folder of your choice
    • Open Device Manager again and Enable and Update the Realtek High Definition Audio driver
      • I had to choose "Browse my computer for driver software"
      • Then, under "Search for driver software in this location", again put the same folder you chose earlier and hit next.
      • Drivers install successfully

I didn't even have to reboot and it's noticeably better than the version I had been running prior (which was R2.79 aka driver 6.0.1.7541).
Also, took me a couple minutes to realize that Windows Edge is not simply an IE upgrade. IE is still on your system, which is why you have to use that to download. Haha

Hey guys, no matter what version of the driver I install, when I click once on the Realtek Manager in tray, I get this:

    Attachment 29766

Is that normal? The Manager opens when I double click the icon instead, my audio also works, just the above error concerns me.
Hey, I have exactly the same thing and I don't know what to do. Although I can hear sounds from the first minute I upgraded and so on I'm still concerned about this because I also get KERNEL-SECURITY-CHECK-FAILURE which as I read is the problem that occurs due to the outdated drivers. Thanks for help.

Hello, I have a question about this driver. I have had a big problem with my Realtek Audio driver not working as intended after updating many months ago on Windows 7. This started at version 2.72, 2.73 or 2.74, I can't quite remember which one exactly. It caused a big part of the settings window to not show up at all. These settings are very important to me, so having them not show up causes a big problem. Whenever Windows Update pushed a driver update, I had to manually revert to version 2.71, which I found to be the only one to work correctly.

I tried upgrading to Windows 10 last weekend and the driver that was installed automatically caused the same problem. The settings are simply not there at all. Trying to revert to an earlier driver version caused the Dell Audio window to instantly close when opened. So I decided to revert my PC back to Windows 7 for now.

Any help or information with this would be greatly appreciated.

Here are images of what I am talking about. As you can see, the sliders and buttons are not there in the Windows 10 side.

    What motherboard do you have?

I think it's bug in the drivers, I installed clean W8/W10 and then tried different versions of the drivers (from MS Update and Realtek), even flashed my BIOS to make sure I don't have wrong settings there but still get this

As for the "KERNEL-SECURITY-CHECK-FAILURE" BSOD - did you check the memory dump? It don't have to be the Realtek driver...

Thanks for the heads up on this Almighty1. This version works fine for me and the sound seems a bit smoother than previous releases.

Haven't tried it in Edge but Chrome worked or else I wouldn't have known about it.
