Technically, it should work as the memory will downgrade its speed to match. However, for the best performance and compatibility I would advise getting the same speed, capacity, and brand of memory.

Who currently makes your single stick of memory and what is the model number of your motherboard?

It ought to work. (It's not guaranteed.)

You may have to manually set the RAM frequency and timings to those that both DIMMs like. Not difficult.

    Hi,
Not sure you have to manually change anything beside optimize defaults usually with F5 and F10 to save and exit.
