Drivers Outdated, Computer Slow & Confusion Windows 10 Home Edition

I use a program called, "Driver Booster" and Slimdriver along with Windows, I do updates when it tells me. I have a realtek Ethernet & soundcard.

When I look at Driverbooster, it informs me all of my drivers are updated relevant to Realtek. However, slimdriver tells me they are not updated. When I used windows 10 (Drivers Update) it tells me everything is updated. I've tried to use slimdriver to update everything in the picture. However, it is not working.

I believe I need to update things though I am not sure what to do - I hope that makes sense?

Essentially all I want to do is be 100% sure all drivers are updated. What am I doing wrong?

You don't need latest drivers, the only requirement is they work. If they do then leave well alone.

If it ain't broke don't try and fix it.

Just check with the Device Manager for any yellow warning triangles, if you have none, no worries.

    Installing Driver updaters....
Ignore both "Driver Booster" and "SlimDrivers" and uninstall them. The mere fact they disagree is good reason to get rid.

Agree with Helmut; unless there's an issue just stick with the drivers WU is giving you.

I am having lots of problems. I am doing my best to solve them on my own. My computer has not been functionally properly for over 3 weeks now. I will delete those two programs. Though I would like a method to replace them. Having old outdated drivers, seems pointless. I am asking for help investigating issues a bit deeper than Windows driver updates. Everyone on Microsoft support forums is yelling the word Drivers at me every other reply, not sure how it would hurt.

When obtaining and updating drivers the best source is the computer manufacturer.
The next best source is the component manufacturer.
The software websites that offer drivers can install anything on the computer.
These can cause BSOD and unstable computer environments.
We see this over and over again and recommend uninstallation of all of these drivers or a clean install.

With all the issues you're having.....it might be worth doing a factory reset. If you have any data you want to keep....ie docs/pictures, save them to a thumb drive. One large enough to hold it all....32 GB should do it. Then do a factory reset. This will reset/reinstall the OS and all drivers and software as the day you first turned it on.

Plankton's advice, while correct, may be overkill because you'll have to reinstall all applications and retweak your system if you take that road. You might want to try an upgrade repair install first, as described in this TenForums tutorial: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade Installation Upgrade Tutorials . This will replace all your device drivers with those that the Windows Installer thinks your system needs, but otherwise leave most things alone. This could be a faster and more straightforward course for you to follow.
