Windows 10 Fall Creators update issues and problems.

    Hi all,

I have big problems with the new MS update which prevents me from installing updates or drivers.
It seems that MS has a mind of its own because whenever i install newer drivers it keeps saying that older drivers are installed in device manager..

    This is what i mean:

As you can see the driver simply won't update in device manager no matter what i do..
Same as for Realtek audio drivers, i donloaded the newest from MS update but i can't install it and see; "the best drivers are already installed for your device"

Is my Windows corrupt or went bad or something or am i overlooking something? I ran sfc /scannow and found nothing, DISM also didn't find anything but repaired the image anyway.

Plz help me with this as this frustrates me beyond belief..

    Thank you in advanced,

    Hurricane28.

    Hi hurricane28.

If you ran the exe it likely unpack the drivers on your machine. If you click update, then browse my computer, then let me pick from a list. (You will have to have the right directory / folder picked in the upper portion of the window.)

Is there a problem with your existing drivers that you are hoping to fix? If not I'm a big believer in "If ain't broke don't fix it." Of course that is me.

I would let Windows install the drivers it decides. Ensure you have device installation settings as shown below. If you really want a different driver, then download the required installation file from the manufacturer's web site. You can use the method at post 2 to check what has been installed or look at the driver properties in Device Manager.

Hi, Sorry for late reply but i have been very busy.

I solved the Audio driver update issue, i changed the name of the folder i unpacked the .cap file to and it worked.

I have no issues anymore but i would like to have the latest drivers and maybe it fixes things that i had no idea of. I mean, make the experience even better so to speak.

    Thnx for reply tho.

Why let Windows decide? That's my point, I want to decide not Windows which driver i want to install or not. If there is a new driver for my platform i would like to be able to install it.

Where did you get device installation settings from? Never seen that before.

There are various ways - try entering Change Device Installation setting in the Search box.

let me see how much i can remember off the top of my head while i have house guests here...

    1. right click on desktop, select "display", nothing happens.
    2. so i try via contreol panel.... click on "control panel"... nothing happens.
3 when i try "shutdown" it appears to launch shitdown sequence, but ends up back at desktop.
4 blue-screen of death now happening.
    5. when attempting to view full-screen (youtube, bbc i-player, VLC player, the bottom of the video screen appears as though it is behind the taskbar, but is actually transparent and incurable for now.
    6. no display settings in the menu that now shows instead of control panel
    7. no display settings options available via troubleshooting, in fact very few options beyond those for novices.
    8. i now have to find display settings via start>PC settings>type "display" into search at top, and i see that it is all set to "recommended", yet i am finding that the displayed desktop screen is an inch too small for my monitor all round, and it is SO annoying. [though i am noticing at the moment it appears i can get to displays settings via start search.

WHAT WAS WRONG WITH RIGHT CLICK ON DESKTOP, CLICK "DISPLAY"? so obvious and quick?
and why does changing display settings seem to do so little but make things worse now?
    9. so, getting to "display" is made into a hassle, and when you do see how now to find it, it isn't actually doing much that helps when you REALLY need to have a more full control than a novice.

i might be wrong, but i thought that the shortcut win+i would bring display settings up? but if it did then it don't do anything now.

there are a few of my professional software work programs which don't seem to be fully functioning, but it will take me a few days to see round exactly what is the problem with each.

also i am finding that this "fall creators" update after a week now is still trying to install bits of itself, even though each time it seems to think is has already.
it also has been shoving updates on me when i have been busy with a job! BAD! BAD! BAD! and i am in effect locked out of my work till it finishes which IS COSTING ME MONEY! and makes me look dreafully amateur to clients.

and this blue-screen of death that has never bothered me before? it didn't even give an error detail for me to find out wqhat went wrong. (mind you, when i had a similar issue on a different PC a year or two ago, the error code when googled gave absolutely no help whatsoever.)

also, i was hoping windows 10 would have by now actually given a clean and truly reasonably quick start-up. but no, it is still only just pretending to give a quick start-up.
    what do i mean?
well, it loads the start-up, visually, very quickly, and arrives at desktop environment reasonably ok, BUT it is just a surface confectionary quickness.
if i look at hidden icon on task bar, i can see that start-up is FAR from finished, and though i get the appearance of desktop within 59secs to 1.30mins (still terrible as compared to Ubuntu or Linux free systems) in actuality everything in the background is still struggling to fire up! (and believe me it aint my set ups problem as i've had Linux and Ubuntu trunning on this PC very VERY effectively, however need to run windows for my pro "apps" as the prefered studios i need to use are only made for windows and mac.

i am now looking for an alternative to windows even if i have to fork out for a new mac setup as i can't rely on this nonsense anymore as it is now costing me too much in wasted work, time, and money.

on top of which, most of the stuff added to recent Win updates, is, for me, confectionary/bloatware (3d? VR? AR? for me those are just toys thast no one is playing yet) and has provided NOTHING which is actually appearing to make the ACTUAL SYSTEM any better.
