How do I use Lexmark X2550 printer with windows 10

    Hi,

I'm using Windows 10 Home edition. How can I use my Lexmark x2550 with Windows 10. I installed the Lexmark 2500 series driver but it is not recognized.. I also tried the Lexmark support site (http://support.lexmark.com/index?loc...EXMARK_X2550#2)

    Anyone have any info?

Sadly your printer doesn't support windows 10. That said you have 2 options, 1 you can try to install driver/software under compatibility mode for windows 7 and hopefully that will work. Otherwise it's option 2 which is buy a printer that works with windows 10.

Lexmark made nice printers, I have the X5250 - trouble free and ink cartridges that don't dry out, even if not used for a month or so. Trouble is they are not supported on W10 (mine's on an old XP box, I have to print to pdf in W10 to be able to use it). Also the replacement cartridges are becoming increasingly expensive and difficult to source (I have to use 3rd-party refills now). Time (for both of us) to look for a replacement.

This is a bit of a long shot: a manual installation of the Win7 drivers.

Download the Win7 drivers, appropriate to your version of Win10 (32 or 64 bit).

Extract the contents using 7Zip. (The download is a .exe, a self-extracting archive.) Go to the folder drivers/winxp_2k. Right click on LXDDprc.inf. Choose install. Pray.

The fact that there are no drivers in the Windows Update catalog for the X2550 makes me suspect that it's time for a printer supported by its maker for Windows 10. (I've have good luck with support from Brother.)

I did exactly what you said but it didn't work either.

But I resolved the problem by installing Windows 7 with drivers for Lexmark X 2500 Series in Oracle VM VirtualBox.. now I need to buy X2550 cartridge..

    hi Bree,
Are you saying that in order to use the printer in W10, I have to print to pdf?
