I started transferring my Windows folder, it's almost done and I am not sure if I was supposed to do that. I feel like the Windows folder is something that would automatically be there when I reset, or maybe a better folder since I am updating. Was this is a good choice? It is taking an awful lot of space

Same question for the Microsoft folder, should I transfer that or would it be automatically there when I reset the computer

    Hi DENMON.

Just as a refresh. What are you trying to do? A lot of posts have passed under the bridge.

I think the purpose of the USB key was to backup data and Steam? (Post #141).

    Thanks

Ya that is what I am doing. I am backing stuff up by transferring them to the drive.

Okay, then you want to back up your user files. Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, Downloads and Desktop at a minimum.

    The post #141 for Steam.

I included Downloads and Desktop as some members don't sweep downloads as often as they should so it may contain data you want to keep and some members put data files on their desktop so it has to be included.

There are likely other locations that could contain data, you mentioned Steam as an example.

You wanted bookmarks ( or Favorites as they are called in Edge ). What browsers do you use. Some store this info in the cloud. I use Chrome and I log in so my bookmarks are in the cloud. You can Google locations for each browser.

You likely have a number of software apps running. The goal would be to inventory them and understand where data is kept, again your Steam example is an excellent example. Ideally all apps should use the Libraries but some store usable data down the Appdata path.

This might seem like a big task, it isn't.

I googled how to save the bookmarks so that is fine.

Should I get rid of the Windows folder I accidentally transferred, and should I transfer the Microsoft folder and the Package Cache folder. The Package Cache thing has a bunch of folders that are gibberish and have no idea if they are important or what they are even.

I looked at everything and I backed up stuff that I want to keep btw.

Yes no need to keep Windows folder of other system related stuff. It is the stuff you are going to reset.

Again, a lot of posts have gone under the bridge. I think way back you had a dual book system?

So now that you have data backed up what were you going to do next, which post are you referencing. Just so We can all follow along.
