Keyboard does not work in Cortana search, MS Edge and Wi-Fi

Moderators: Please move this post to the appropriate sub-forum...

    This one puzzles me...

    It's a Lenovo T430 laptop with i5-3320M CPU, 8GB memory, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 version 1703 (15063.540), not connected to domain but member of a work-group.

The keyboard works just fine in any apps, so does "Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V", typing this post on the T430 in Firefox. The exceptions are Cortana, MS Edge and entering the security key for Wi-Fi connections. In these apps, the cursor blinks, but does not change as I type. Nor does the "Ctrl+V" actually paste the copied content. W10 makes connection to known wireless APs without issues, the laptop currently connected to one of such an AP. At some point, entering security keys did work.

This is an issue, when traveling:

Knowing the network security key and not being able to connect is upsetting, to say it mildly. I can tether to my cell phone, it's a known network, but that's not always a good way around it.

I did run a "sfc /scannow" that came up empty, no integrity violation. Started to look at the event viewer, but didn't come up with anything remotely related to this issue.

I am not certain, if this issue has been caused by the August updates, or any earlier ones? I first noticed awhile ego that in MS Edge I could not type, either in the default search engine or the address bar. Since I don't used Edge, I really didn't care. Nor do I use Cortana and since the laptop is seldom taken out from the area of known network, this issue may go back as far as June-July time frame. I just don't know.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    TIA...

Run CMD as admin and copy/paste:

    Code:
    schtasks /Change /TN "Microsoft\Windows\TextServicesFramework\MsCtfMonitor" /Enable
    schtasks /Run /TN "Microsoft\Windows\TextServicesFramework\MsCtfMonitor"

Thanks... The commands above did fix the issue with Edge, WiFi, etc...
