Non-Existed Windows Phone Icon appeared in the This PC.

Hi, I am having a very strange problem here.
So, I have been using Windows Phone before Nokia dropped support for my phone now I switch to other phone.
But the Windows Phone icon on the This PC is still there even though it doesn't mapped to anything.

I tried right-clicking, Go into the Drive Manager and it doesn't display anything, Tried go into device manager again, it don't mentioned about the phone what so ever.

So I wonder what's going on that my laptop thinks there's a Windows Phone connected to it all the time even though it doesn't mapped to anything at all and how can I remove it from the This PC.

Go to Devices and at the top click on View and then select Show Hidden Devices.

Then look under Portable Devices and see if your Phone is listed.

Also, is your Windows phone still listed online in your MS account > Devices tab? If so, click on "More actions" and remove phone.

    Follow up.

Hi again, thanks for all the suggestion, But I haven't been able to remove the Windows Phone Icon with your suggestion.

However, I browse a bit and discovered a very old forum on how to remove their Nokia Phone icon for Windows XP. Involving deleting a registry key.

I tried it, and yes! this 5+ years old forum did provide the fix! It removes the Windows Phone icon completely!

I also create a backup copies of registry key I deleted in case something went wrong.

Here's the link to that forum in case anyone encountered the same problem as me. Give it a try!

    Thanks for all the help!

Glad you got it fixed. That's what counts. And thanks for your info. :)

I'm still scratching my head as to why it was there in the first place. Did this tag along after a feature update?

My personal thought is that it somehow register itself to the machine since Windows 8.1 when I first got a Windows Phone.
When I upgrade to Windows 10, It somehow locked the registry so when the Nokia dropped the support and I changed the phone, It still remembers the previous Windows Phone and showed it in this PC even though it wasn't connected at all. Just my personal thought.
