    key switches don't work

On this Toshiba Satellite M645, key switches don't work, brightness control, mouse and pointer on/off, and wireless on/off.
    Any suggestions?

I have a Toshiba L750, a similar vintage to your model. The brightness controls F6/F7 and the others are made available when you press and hold the Fn key. For this to work you have to have the Toshiba Flash Cards Utility installed.
    Toshiba said:
TOSHIBA Flash Cards is a utility using a card type design. It replaces the "Hot Key Utility" which is a conventional utility for Windows. Pressing a specific key together with the Fn key executes the function assigned to the key (hot key function)...

...If this utility or feature is not installed on your computer, you can verify if it is available for your specific model under "Downloads" on the TOSHIBA support web site (support.toshiba.com). Not all utilities are available for every model and operating system. When installing any utilities, install the TOSHIBA Value Added Package first.

My laptop was upgraded from the OEM Windows 7, most of the OEM Toshiba software was retained in the upgrade, including the Flash Cards Utility which continues to work, the Fn key brings up the following...

Like yours, my Toshiba model is not officially supported for Windows 10. If you search Toshiba's download site for a version of the Flash Cards Utility suitable for your machine it will be a Win7 or Win8 one, though (like mine) it will probably work.

    I don't know, but I expect no.

I see no Win10 drivers for the wireless LAN adapter online, but the Win8.1 ones will probably work.

Yes, Using Flash Cards pressing FN and F8 (the WiFi icon) will turn WiFi on.
There may also be a WiFi switch on the side of the laptop (see attached)
