"MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8E2 S" is not being recognized as operable.

When I open Device Manager my DVD/CD-ROM drives are missing. I have to, view - show hidden devices, to see it. Once that is done I get this error.

I verified that the CD-ROM is in fact connected and spins up when a CD is inserted. I do believe that this happened after an update or a new software installation occurred. A system restore is out of the question. Does anyone know how to deal with Windows 10 drivers or where to find the one I am looking for to try and reinstall a corrupted driver? What process should I take to try and correct this issue? Do you think the drive is bricked?

    Hi there

    I think that's a "Panasonic" drive -- simply re-load the driver.

    Cheers

You can go to the driver Tab and uninstall device. Then it should re-install the driver itself.
The driver is in Windows 10.
    Also try
Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot > Hardware and Devices > Run.

    Hi All,

Astrotheque, check that the DVD is fully working. I have had the same situation, but after reading some DVD with movies it disappeared again. Now, my ODD (Optical Digital Driver) is present in the list of devices from Control Panel, but I want to install a more recent driver.

By the way, it seems that Microsoft is trying to solve this issue because my Matshita DVD has become visible no matter what I did nothing.

The reason why it has disappeared have I changed the hard disk with SSD and installed windows 10 again from a memory stick. I think so -after some information found- cause of the installation application asked a certain driver to supply that we have omitted:

But, the installation software for windows 10 has no solution to handle the bus with USB-3 in our computers and the DVD-RAM become not installed and not recognized in the BIOS where you probably will notice VOID in ODD (Optical Digital Driver) that as a hardware connected should be informed.

Migrating from windows 8.1 to windows 10 I did not notice any issue.

The recommended solution it is to reinstall windows 10 from memory stick, but when the system asks to supply certain driver for DVD - you do not have it!- then you should put out and put in again the memory stick simply, either changing stick from USB-3 to USB-2 connector and then the diabolic issue with DVD will be sorted.

A second and different recommendation is to disconnect the bus for USB-3 from the BIOS before installing windows 10 again.

I have not reinstalled Windows 10 at all, but I am trying to find a more recent driver. The one I notice now from Control Panel is from Microsoft 21-06-2006.

Be very careful, please, checking free executables downloads to the needed driver with virustotal.com -because the ones I have found up to now are plenty infected with backdoors, viruses, and so on.

This is what I know on the issue and I will be grateful for any additional suggestion and information. Cheers,
