Latest updated Synaptics touchpad driver kills my trackpad - help!

I am running the latest build of Windows 10 (build 10240).

Now that release date is coming driver updates are arriving for my laptop (Acer ES1-111M). One of which is for the Synaptics touchpad. When I apply this driver and restart my laptop the trackpad no longer works and the new driver has an error in Device Manager and cannot start.

This device cannot start (error code 10)

The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device.

If I try to update the driver it says the latest version is installed. I have to rollback the driver to the previous one supplied by Microsoft and the trackpad works again, However the entire process repeats when the Synaptics trackpad update is automatically installed again by Windows Update.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Thanks.

    Hi,
same issue with me. At each reboot, I have conflict with an IBM driver for my synaptics touchpad.
    Any solution ?

I hope that this is fixed soon. I have to use a USB mouse right now to use my laptop.

Roll it back to the original driver. Make sure that you only allow Device driver updates, by Making the change in "Device Installation Settings" under System, that only you will update them.

Uninstall the driver then either use the Troubleshooter tool or the Powershell script to hide the update from downloading. Both ways work. Tried both methods on different machines to stop Windows Update from installing Synaptics.

Thanks very much everyone. I decided to hide the update for now. I also emailed Synaptics to let them know about this issue to see what they do.
