    Windows 10

I use an HP Officejet Pro 6230 The dialogues are just about identical.

Suspect you might be using a generic basic Windows 10 driver, "series" in the name may suggest that.

I would look in your Programs and Features, uninstall all the HP printer drivers. Disconnect the printer and install the HP full feature driver (download from HP) connecting up when appropriate, maybe temporarily using the USB connection.

The object being to prevent the generic/basic Windows 10 HP driver from installing. The problem with those is the full features are not supported.

I had this with an older HP printer of a similar type, the full features would occasionally stop working. The only way to get them back was to uninstall/re-install the full feature driver.
Nothing was indicated wrong within Windows, just the 'full feature' stopped working.

That has not happened on the current printer through all the Windows 10 version updates.

I need to get to bed. Try the troubleshooter. If that doesn't work then I would uninstall and reinstall the driver/software.

Windows Key + E > Towards the bottom of left column > Expand Control panel > Choose "All Control panel items" > Icons view > choose "Devices and Printers" > right click your printer > Troubleshoot.

Uninstall that way too if necessary. If you don't have the driver software then search the HP site for the latest that's for your OS, download, and install.

    Good luck to you.

I installed it originally from the HP CD and subsequently updated it using HP's Web Full Pack.

Not familiar with duplex printing, but in the Printer Preferences you show in your OP, is it possible it should be set to 2 pages per sheet? My gut tells me it's a wrong setting somewhere.

Other than that, not sure what to say at this point. Like I said, what stumps me is that it should be the other way around in that the printer would work with your HP not the Dell.

    Thanks to everyone who replied.

A special thanks to HippsieGypsie for getting me started on looking for a new driver. I found the Full Pack set on HP's website, downloaded it and installed the driver for the 4520 with no success. I felt sure that it would solve the problem but it didn't. I finally called HP support and talked to Seth. He tried the same things I tried with equal lack of results. He finally said let me see if there is another driver we can use. After a few minutes he came back and installed a driver for the HP926E3D and every thing worked fine. Cloudy skies are not serene, to quote Sir Arthur Sullivan or maybe it was Gilbert.

Anyway, it appears there was a glitch with the Full Pack Drivers!

I am marking the thread Solved.

Very cool! Glad you got it fixed. And you're welcome, JJG10.

Kind of strange their driver for their brands doesn't work.

One more thing, @JJG10. You may have to turn off driver update so Windows doesn't update that driver. It sucks that it deprives other driver updates, so every now and then (once a month, quarter?) you may want to turn this on so they do so. Save that older driver somewhere in case you have to load it again. Hopefully some day they'll make it so we can pick and choose that individually for every driver.
