Printer will not work in windows10

Hi all,I have an HP Officejet 4500.Installed it when 10 was introduced as free.It worked fine untill the anniversary update but no longer works.Went to the hp website and put in the info.and they inform me that there is no driver avaliable. So,can I assume I have to throw another printer away because of Billy G,thank-you.

There is a Windows 10 driver on the HP support website. Download and install it.

Be sure to choose the correct driver since there are many variants - http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Looku...officejet+4500

If that doesn't work, uninstall the driver then reinstall it. Are you using genuine HP cartridges since I have an All in One HP printer which won't even install HP's software unless it detects HP cartridges.

You could try the HP Officejet Basic Print and Scan Driver and run HP's Print & Scan Doctor.

uninstall the driver at first but seemed to be a mistake cuz now I can't install it again.Says it ran into trouble and is exiting
    installation.Just don't know what is wrong,Tony.

Simply uninstalling HP printer drivers often does not work. I ran into similar problems with Win10 -- and the only thing that worked was digging out the ORIGINAL CD that came with the printer, reinstalling from that CD, and then uninstalling. During the uninstall, I had to insert that CD. But after that, the printer stuff was finally gone and I could reinstall using the more current software from the HP website.

Are you using genuine HP ink? I can't install HP software on my HP printer when using 3rd party ink.

Yes,am using hp ink.Mark,I can't use the original cd to install on windows10,won't let me.That is why I went to the hp website and
downloaded the windows10 driver.Again,it worked fine until the anniversary update. Then I went to hp website again and they scanned the computer and said there is no new driver other than what I have installed. So,what I did is I have an older laptop running 8.1 so installed there and printer works fine.It just seems ridiculous to have to by a new printer on every other os that ms comes out with.Thanx all for the help.

Go to Start/Search and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In Programs and Features uninstall all of the HP Printer software. Remove the USB cable for the printer from the Printer End and restart the computer.
Now download the latest driver in post #3, during the install, it will tell you when to plug in the USB cable.

What is the exact error message? Be sure you rebooted with the USB cable unplugged from the computer end before trying to reinstall.
Try Uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller. If it is not in the list, use Hunter Mode, be sure to use the Advanced Method to remove all files from Registry.
