    Desperate for Good Speakers

Hi all, can some of you give me direction on what type of speakers to buy for my Desktop? I am so tired of struggling to hear. I have my sound turned up to 100 and still hard on some sites like Youtube, Facebook etc.

One thing I know is an issue is the cheap sets I've been using, USB, not AC (hope I got that right, the plug into an electric socket type).

Just would be grateful to hear what some of you are using? I'm not into Bass, boom boom boom. I just want clear speech audio, and yes, music if I happen to be listening to anything on my PC. Usually only listen to music from my TV.

My budget is under 100 dollars. I'm hoping I don't have to spend that much to get a decent set but I will if I have to.

I have an HP Pavilion running Win 10, version 2004. Any other info needed, I will be glad to provide it for you. One other thing is I don't care for bluetooth. Rather just plug them in

Thank you in advance for any help, Denise

There's 3 functions with volume, one is the Self-powered speakers that have built in amplifier with its own volume control, the Windows volume control and a multi-media keyboard that has volume controls. There may even be a software app for the speakers or the audio/sound adapter in Settings. Any of those affects all of those. Most times the cord from the speakers that have a light-green plug goes into the same colored port on the back of the computer or can be plugged into a port on the front of the computer useful for a headset, not the microphone. Have seen motherboards that have more functions/ports so need the manual for those.

Thanks for the link, those are pretty high for me, but I do thank you, and will think about them. I need to see if I can find something for less, we'll see what else I might "catch" here on tenforums

Back in the day Bose speakers were king... I don't know how they are now, but I would imagine they are still quality...

    Amazon.com

And there is always Swan speakers....

    Amazon.com

All those I linked are quality speaker companies.

The biggest thing you want to look for is amplified speakers that do plug into an electrical outlet. I've got these and they are decent, nothing like Bose, of course, but decent for the price:
    Cyber Acoustics CA-3090

The little remote "pod" is very handy. I have fixed the pod down to the desk with "command" double sided removable tape. The speakers are available in a lot of stores, too.

The site has changed since I was last here, having a bit of trouble figuring out how to reply with quote. I think I got it now. These are definitely a good price for me. I'm going to look them over and thank you for the link!!

Thanks all, I think I'll go for the Cyber Acoustics because of the price first, and also, I think they might help on my TV. If they do, I can buy another set for those prices Thank you all again, I'll let you know how they work for me

I'd go for either the Logitech linked by hdmi, or the Klipsch Ghot.

I myself have Audioengine A5+ speakers ($399) along with the S8 sub ($349), but that package is well over your budget. That said, the A5+ speakers has good bass. And they are powered speakers.

    Denise,

Are you saying that even 100 is not loud enough?

Or are you saying that the sound quality is inadequate?
