Synaptics Touchpad stops working or keeps moving itself

I am using Windows 10 version 1703 (OS Build 15063.413) on HP Notebook 1000. And just for reference I have encountered this issue in previous versions of Windows 10 as well. Every time I clean install Windows 10 and update to install drivers, it will work fine for about 1-2 months and then suddenly out of nowhere touchpad will either stops working or keeps moving itself after 5-10 minutes of restart ( even if I don't update Windows, means same drivers version ).

Right now I have installed version 19.3.31.16 of Synaptics pointing device drivers. But I have tried to solve this issue by installing previous version of drivers as well ( version 8.xx, 10.xx, 17.xx, 19.0.19.1 ). After installing drivers the first time it works fine for about 15 minutes and then same issue!

    I have noticed this btw:
    • Every time I put the laptop to sleep and then log on, touchpad works fine for about 5 minutes.
    • Every time I restart the laptop, it works fine for about 5 minutes.
    • Even If I uninstall the drivers and use basic drivers by Windows 10, the same thing happens. Touchpad keeps flickering, moving itself or would just stop working.
    • Sometimes Upper right or left corner of touchpad will work fine while the rest of the area is unresponsive.

Have anybody else encountered this issue? How did you resolve it? I don't wanna install Windows again or keep restarting my laptop.

Download and install the latest version of the UEFI diagnostics, version 6.4
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/h...gnostics_cc/dt

Power on click the F10 or F2 key repetitively booting to the bios.
    Navigate to the UEFI diagnostics.
Run the UEFI diagnostics in extensive or loop until failure mode.
Plan to start in the evening so that in the AM you will have the results. It will either continue running if it is loop until failure or it will have stopped due to a failure. Each cycle duration depends on the size of the drives and the amount of RAM.
If the studies fail there will be an error code.
If there is no failure click to view the log and confirm that it documented the pass.

After ruling out any hardware problems open device manager.
Expand mice and other pointing devices.
Open the HP web site software and drivers.
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Enter your computers product or serial number.
    Select the operating system.
Expand all of the drivers for your computers configuration and operating system.

Did you computer come with preinstalled windows version? Was it 7, 8, 8.1 or 10?
Look at the drivers to see whether there is or is not a hp approved driver for the current version of windows as compared to the driver version that came with your computer.

Find the SP number for each driver, the one for windows 10 and each of the prior versions.
Are they the same or different?
Which one is currently installed and which one was installed when you got the preinstalled operating system.

    Uninstall the synaptics driver.
Use the HP support assistant and see which driver it prompts you to install.
Compare this driver SP# to what you just saw on the drivers web page.

Then review which drivers you had installed that you had had problems with.

Post that information into the thread.
Use the HP support assistant suggested driver for now.
