Error 0x800701E3 WD my passport extra

    Hi Roomies,

I replaced my motherboard and reinstall win 10 pro and everything is running good. But I think I had this portable WD HDD (usb 3.0) plug in when my old motherboard when down and that is why I'm getting this error.

Can someone please help me, I was to save this 2tb hdd. The HDD is empty and I have done a quick format 2X.

    Thank you

Usually this error indicates that the electronics inside the enclosure has failed. To make sure it is not that, you may do the following.

    1. Change the cable and try the WD passport on another working PC. Do you get the same error?

    2. Check the health of your HDD with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows.
    Download from : https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en
Testing a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Window: https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebas...er.aspx?ID=940

If the tests fail, RMA if it is under warranty.

If the tests pass, do a zero wipe ( Erase ) with the same program, and then do a quick format. ( To make sure you are doing this on the right external drive, safely remove all other WD external drives and have only your problem drive connected)

    Good Luck.

Error 0x800701E3 WD my passport extra-wd1.png@jumanji, Thanks doing all the test now!! will report once I'm done.

16:45...I need to send it for support to WD !!

So, I need to see if still under warranty.

Thanks again for the rapid solution!!
