    No audio

My computer audio randomly stopped working. I have tried restarting the computer several times and have tried with the internal speakers, a Logitech headset and normal headphones. It seems like the audio service is not running, but even when I restart my computer and look at the services window the windows audio service is hanging on stopping. I don't know why it's trying to stop right after booting up.

What is shown in the Device Manager for the Realtek audio? Is it shown with an error or working OK?

Post a screenshot of the Device Manager, Sound, Video and Game Controller section.

I was able to get it working by restarting windows by holding shift when clicking on the shutdown button in the start menu. I think this worked because the audio service was hanging and it would not be properly restarted in window's quick shutdown mode.

You might have to look at BIOS and see if there's as witch to disable it temporarily, uninstall driver and enable it again. Windows should install original drivers that work.

Some driver error states can persist through Shutdown and fast start up. For a full boot up from 'cold' you can use Restart rather than Shutdown, that will not use fast start up.
