    Driver Help for Samsung

I have never done this, but I want to learn how to do this. My system has a Samsung 950 Pro and for some time now when Samsung releases the NVME driver I just download it, extract it and then run the MSI file for my 64-bit system.

What I would like to learn is how to extract the actual driver files from the MSI file. Is there a tutorial I missed here on how to do this or is there just an easy way to do it that people know?

    Thanks

Sometimes you can dig into the .exe file and get meaningful stuff out of it. But I just checked the file named "Samsung NVM Express Driver 2.2.exe -- the latest version -- and saw nothing in 7zip (a usually good tool for extracting stuff) that would be human usable. Maybe somebody else has a better idea or tool to recommend? This is what it looks like in part:

Yes, I get the same thing. There must be a way to extract the actual files.

I've been trying to suss that out for years now. If you find a way, please let me know. Solving this issue/finding a tool or fix has stubbornly resisted my efforts when you see the preceding .exe file layout no matter what I try. Good luck!

Yea. There's no one simple solution.

What are you trying to accomplish? If you just want to see what Samsung driver files were installed and/or save the old files before they're replaced, there are driver tools like DriverStoreExplorer
On the other hand, if you want to inspect an installation file before it's run, no simple or easy answer.

    1. As Ed pointed out, 7zip is always a good place to start
    2. Specific to msi files, i recently started using lessmsi. See snapshot below of one of the Samsung msi files. By their naming convention, reveals 3 sets of driver files. It includes driver files for Win 7, Win 8.1 and Win 10
    3. When need be, I'll sometimes actually run the installation file. Then may find the driver files

    > Sometimes left in Temp space
    > Sometimes they're placed under Program Files prior to installation
    > and sometimes they get installed and I go looking in the driver store

HOWEVER, I only use the last method as I use Acronis True Image (for my backups). Acronis TI comes with their "Try and Decide" tool. I start the tool which creates a disk checkpoint. Then i can download, install, tweak, modify and inspect my disk drive however I like. When done, "Try and Decide" allows me to accept all disk changes or back out all disk changes back to the checkpoint.

    Hi,

A bit late to the party but hopefully this may help:

If you should see dark errors then rename the .exe file so it adheres to the 6 dot 3 standard.

Easiest way to obtain just the drivers is to install the package and to then just let DriverStoreExplorer.v0.9.5 export the driver package to a destination folder of your choice.

I have the same problem as I actually use the Samsung driver to hide a controller problem on a Patriot Helfire drive.
