Windows / Linux : Arch Linux

    Hi there
another way often with older printers - especially if you have a Linux NAS type server is to connect the printer to the NAS server via a USB cable - CUPS (Linux default printing system) has probably zillions of drivers in it -- unlike say getting Sound to work in some cases I haven't yet seen a printer (certainly manufactured in the last 10 years or so) that doesn't work.

You then simply allow the printer to be shared on the network, define network printer on Windows and it should be fine -- the remote driver will do the printing and send it back to your Windows print queue.

Great suggestion on the "hook the printer to a Linux NAS" @jimbo45. For a Windows forum, you sure manage to steer things in the Linux/UNIX direction a lot. And just so you know, my first "real OS" was AT&T UNIX v5 which I administered on a PDP-11/70 at UT Austin in 1978 and 1979, working for Prof. Don Fussell.
