No Safely remove notifiction pop up, HAVE Icon

The notification to safely remove hardware pop up box does not appear.
I have the Icon to click , and can see any Usb device , thumb drive or Hard drive.
Just no SAFE TO REMOVE HARDWARE BOX, the devices are removed as they no longer appear but I get no confirmation of removal.
I Have done a SFC no errors. This just started this week, all my other computers are 64 bit and do have the
    notification box pop up.
I have tried disabling and re-enabling the Icon , no change.
I have checked a couple other sites, others have the same problem on a 64 bit machine.
    Anyone any Ideas ?

Hi there. Welcome to the forums. In Device Manager (Windows Key/X) > Right click on the device. What do you get?

Did the balloon notification appear before?

If yes, some windows update( Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender) could have caused it. It was so in Windows 7 sometime ago.

A later update had fixed the problem and the balloon notification reappeared.

If your problem is similar to this one, then you may have to wait for a future update to undo the disappearance.

If you hadn't updated Windows Defender update it now and check whether the message balloon reappears.

I had to do this when I had the same problem.
For safe eject USB notification missing:• Press keyboard "win + R"• Type "regedit"• Search the value "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notification\Settings\Microsoft.Explore r.Notification.{...}"• If you REG_DWORD 0x00000001(0) set "0" you can double click on value. Set the value data to "1"• Click "OK"

    That worked
    Thank you so much!
I did notice that there were 3 entry's for the NOTIFICATION all with dword of zero
I changed the first one to a 1
and deleted the other two that were "0"
rebooted and "Safely remove hardware" box is back
    Thanks again

    Try this:
Right click start & choose run enter "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll" without the quotes.Choose a drive to eject, once ejected icon should return.

    Or this from user Geosammy:
Step 1. Go to > Settings > PrivacyStep 2. App Permissions > Background Apps.Toggle ‘Let apps run in the background’ switch to off. Restart computer. (action center not showing previously or new notifications)Step 3. Go back to the settings page, previously mentioned in step 1 and 2.Toggle the ‘Let apps run in the background’ switch to on, as described in Step 2.Restart once again. Action Center is now showing notifications. As well as the "Safe to remove" pop-up for flash drives without issues.

i mange to get the "safe to remove device" if i:
    1. turn off focus assist
    2. dont close the windows explorer with my usb hdd. if i dont close this window the "safe to remove device" pops up but if i close this window before i click on "safe remove device" it doesnt show up

it still should show up even if i close the windows explorer window right?
