I had forgotten to mention that the "trick" i found that worked in my case is that although the touchpad driver that microsoft downloaded for my toshiba laptop's touchpad scroll pad did NOT work when i did the upgrade (even with activating one finger scrolling in settings) it DID work by doing that once i did an actual CLEAN INSTALL....so, for those who upgraded but didn't later clean install, you might find that doing that would make all the difference for you...It did for me :)

Probably some driver conflict was brought over in the upgrade which was eliminated by clean installing, so something to consider...

Hi! New to the forum...I just upgraded my windows 7 original install on my Toshiba Laptop (3 years old) to the Windows 10 Home Preview Build (10130 was installed). Everything appears to be working EXCEPT my touchpad will not scroll.
It is a Synaptics V7.5 on PS-2 port.
I went to the Synaptics website and don't see a windows 10 driver for this...How can i get the scrolling to work on the touchpad (everything else seems to be working on the pad)...
Thanks in advance for all help
Craig, try the following Synaptics touchpad drivers from Toshiba which were posted in late August:
    v19.0.16.3 (full Win10 certified) [posted 8/21/2015]
    v19.0.14.31 [posted 8/20/2015]

I know the 19.0.14.31 version worked on my dad's Toshiba C55Dt-A touchscreen laptop (a mid-summer 2013 model) with pre-installed Win8.1 and that version will also work on Win10 though I haven't upgraded to Win10 yet until "Threshold wave 2" comes out or until the end of year 2015.

You can try this solution, it might work:
    Go to Settings-->Devices-->Mouse & touchpad
There you will see an option 'Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them', turn that off.

Please reply back if this works for you.

I think windows did download that latest windows 10 driver from toshiba for the touchpad....although as i mentioned it didn't work initially when i did the direct upgrade from my old 7 to 10...however, once i clean installed (and enabled it in the touchpad settings) the mouse touchpad does work just fine and i have no problem with the one finger scrolling now...

I suspect there was some kind of conflict which got eliminated when i did the clean install...

Thanks to all for your help!

    Reinstall Synaptics Driver

I have a Dell laptop and I downloaded all of my drivers from their Support page, which detects your computer and figures out which drivers (and other downloads) are appropriate for you. In my case, this included the Synaptics Touchpad driver.

However, I have experienced the same problem you have (scrolling not working), usually after a reboot. The only solution I have found is to reinstall the driver (on my computer, the folder path is C:\dell\drivers\R237318), and then reboot. This usually works, and if it doesn't, I just do it again and it does. (I've never had to do it more than twice.)

    I hope this helps someone.

This worked for me (as I remember it): [Updated]

    [On Dell XPS L502X]
The install executable did not work, but this did:

    1. Download appropriate Win10 driver for trackpad and extract to a folder - http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php
    2. Uninstall and any existing Synaptics driver from both Device Manager and Programs & Features, then restart.
    3. In Device Manager, right-click on the track pad and select 'Update Driver Software'.
    4. Select 'Browse my computer for driver software' then
'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer' then
    'Have Disk...'
    5. In the location box, put [Driver Folder]\WinWDF\x64 (or x86 if you have a 32-bit only PC)
(replace [Driver Folder] with the location of the folder that contains 'WinWDF', 'Autorun.inf', 'ReleaseNotes.html', and 'Setup.exe').
    6. Click 'OK' then 'Next' and it should install successfully.
    7. Restart, and it should work correctly, with the latest config tool and smooth scrolling.

I hope that this helps some of those, whom are struggling

I spent 3 hours with this touchpad - reinstalling drivers, editing registry, till on some forum among huge descriptions one guy wrote "Install old driver and stop ***** the topic" As it turned out he was right, First try to uninstall the new driver for Win10, and try the old version for Win7.

That look like a solution. Unfortunately Sony does not provide drivers for the synaptics device in my Vaio as they no longer provide any backup services.

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on one of my Intel 965 based Satellite A200 laptops. The Synaptics touch pad scroll worked well except for within Windows 10 settings windows, with the Widows 7 driver.
The scrolling is fully functional now with driver version 17.0.19.0(17-Oct-13).
I couldn't get scrolling to work at all with current version drivers.

    Update.
After a Windows 10 update and restart I noticed that the srcoll was working even better. It is now more smoother and responsive. Windows update history showed "Synaptics Input software update released in August, 2008", version 11.2.4.0.
