It actually cleans up all drivers for particular make and latest version also cleans up sound drivers. W10 also has some generic chipset drivers that allow it to work before any drivers are installed otherwise it would be able to do clean windows installation.
    ok thank you

There is an updated chipset driver available from MSI and Asrock,

Support For X470 GAMING PRO CARBON AC | Motherboard - The world leader in motherboard design | MSI Global

Only thing that is updated at least for me when I ran the installer is the Ryzen power plan (version 2.02 to 4.00). It is also WHQL. If you go for it just do a custom install and uncheck any components (mainly video and audio) that are the same as already installed.

Also from AMD directly although not yet modified for Asus

Not the same one. The one from MSI (and Asrock if you search their AM4 boards) is newer with the updated Ryzen power plan in it.

Think the same thing happened when that one that is currently at AMD, most of the board makers had it up before AMD did.

Edit. Just poked around a bit more in the install folder for the one from MSI. It also comes with the "new" Radeon Settings Lite that is available from the Windows Store.

I'm getting an installation error when trying to install that APP. Speaking of AMD Ryzen power plan, same error as once before, it reverts to defaults even when set differently.

    New chipset driver out today,

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/chips...ocket-am4/x470

From the looks of it it has updated PSP and PCI drivers. No change for the GPIO or SMBus drivers.

Yup, going to install it today, hope that "AMD Ryzen Balanced" power plan is fixed, took some trying to get it to remember settings in last driver.

Anyone has a silent install switch for this new driver though (1.6.13.0400)? I tried everything I could think of and no switch made the install silent.

Also noticed that C:\AMD contains several .msi files, so I though I'd install using .msi as those silent switches are known but it doesn't appear to install anything this way.

I contacted AMD support about it, and here was their reply:
"I am sorry but there is no option to silent install the AMD Chipset drivers."
