I noticed that too, its weird.

I guess they want it this way so they can screw something up again i guess..
And they did it too, with this BIOS I lost PBO settings and PBO itself that doesn't work almost at all giving me much lower boost frequency.

Good question considering the one from Asus is newer than the one at AMD. Since ASUS is the motherboard manufacturer, they may often release an updated chipset driver before AMD to fix an issue etc.
Sorry to say Shawn but that isn't entirely the case. Just like the video card drivers, the drivers are written only by AMD and are closed source. About the only thing Asus or any other motherboard (or video card) manufacturer can do with the drivers from AMD is to add to or alter slightly the INF files to make it look like it comes from them. Asus likely got an updated component or two from AMD and updated the driver package they offer, with an updated package number.

I actually looked into that "updated" Asus driver set (and installed the newer components on my MSI motherboard) and if I remember correctly there was only one or two of the five or six different components it ( PSP and I believe PCI drivers). In fact when you run the installer it looks just like the standard installer GUI that AMD has been using for a while now.

I used Gigabyte for many years but they seriously dropped the ball with Ryzen platform. Surprised with MSI though, they made some good Ryzen MBs lately (Tomahawk). Before they were mostly low end junk.

    Thank you for clarifying.

That's what I do and mostly clean installs. If in any doubt or something goes wrong I use DDU beforehand.

It actually cleans up all drivers for particular make and latest version also cleans up sound drivers. W10 also has some generic chipset drivers that allow it to work before any drivers are installed otherwise it would be able to do clean windows installation.
