I just registered to this forum to thank you very much. But how on earth do one find something like that out??

I looked at that registry value (UpperFilters).
On desktop computer the value is simply "kbdclass"
On my laptop computer (which has a wireless keyboard and a wired keyboard attached) the value is:
SynTPavgKbdkbdclass
I don't have any problems with any of the keyboards, though. I'm just interested to know what this value does.

As other users have commented, this worked perfectly, thank you so much!!!

However, I did not have the registry value UpperFilters listed in that registry folder at all, so I created it, and as mentioned it worked. So in case any other people have the same keyboard issue and find no value named UpperFilters in the 4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 folder, here's how to make one and solve the problem!

1. Go to the 4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 registry folder as described by edino.
2. Right-Click in the registry values field on the right, go to New, and select Multi-String Value.
3. Type UpperFilters as the name.
4. Double-Click on the value you just created. In the Value Data field, type kbdclass. Click OK.
5. Reboot and, as edino said, I hope the issue will be fixed. It was for me!

I suffered over 14 days under the effect above, just able to enter characters by screen-keyboard.
Was minutes apart from taking a heavy hammer and help my laptop!
I wonder how someone detects this fault (and the solution).
In my case there was a double line text, which began with "kee", then "kbdclass" on the second line
First try after deleting "kee"failed, cause i left a "return" after kbdclass.
I killed this, switched the laptop down, resetted it (pressing a pin in the pinhole on the backside of the laptop), and then restarted it.
before entering any character, i checked "Keyboard settings" under device manager. And success: the yellow triangle had gone at the "HID-keyboard", "PS/2 keyboard" still had it. I deleted PS/2 and from then it worked again...
Puhhh ... that were hard 14 days.
