Personally, since you just got this lappy, I would`ve just pulled the original ssd/m.2 whatever it is, and just put it in the desk drawer, do you really need it installed ?

OK thanks, hopefully i should be able to distinguish the difference between them by their Manufacturer and size (Toshiba 1TB, Kingston 128GB and Crucial 275GB) - but get the warning for sure, thanks :)

I'll post back tomorrow at some stage and let you know how I got on :)

Hey, not really, but it's always worth having for extra storage should I need it, and as long as it's not affecting anything :) What I was worried about was changing the boot drive and ensuring that the new one would be allocated C: and any programs would default to that, until I was sure of that then that 128GB was staying right where it was lol - this is all new to me, but I'm learning and taking advice :)

Thanks.. If anything and I don't use it then I'll sell it - even if it's for £50 - it's better than nothing :)

That's because of Murphy's law of warehousing: "Whatever free space you have, it will be filled up soon".

I`m thinking more along the lines of warranty should you have to return it, 128 GB or if it`s actually 119 GB whichever is nothing. I would just tuck it away in the desk drawer.

I wouldn`t wipe it until you really really need it.

The new ssd and the 1 TB drive are more then enough space for a laptop.

Speaking of the new ssd, 275 GB is a strange size, can you post a link to it ?

Tbh, as long as when I change the boot order in the bios that the new E: (the new 275GB) changes to C: and everything installs to there and there are no conflicts with the old SSD then yes, why not just leave it, but I'd rather just wipe it clean so I don't get confused if I'm moving things around in windows explorer - I shouldn't do but I like things clean, tidy and organised, I don't have OCD, I have CDO (the correct way alphabetically) ;-) But yes, if that's OK then I'll do it that way.

The drive I got is this one: Crucial MX300 275GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD CT9000878 | Aspire F5-573G | Crucial UK I was lucky though, got it from elsewhere for £74.95 inc vat... but yes, I thought it woulda been 256GB but I'm not complaining :)

As explained it's best to remove old drive and set new on disk 0 if you don't you can get problems as to Windows you have two disk with the same signature I would reclone so your system is up to date

    Hi again folks

OK, so I've had dinner, went into the Bios and this is what it says: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Do I leave the boot manager at the top? In which case the next to boot up is my new SSD anyway, the Crucial, or do I need to move others? I don't want to do it wrong...

Edit: Actually, just seen the new SSD is set to HDD0 - so that's correct? But it's still showing as E: yet I want it be like the old C: so that any programs automatically install to the right drive...

    Thanks.

    OK, I'll explain again lol

I originally had 2 hard drives installed: 1 x 1TB HDD and 1 x 128GB SSD!! I have moved the HDD to the DVD drawer and still kept it because i use it all for music and videos, the SSD is still in the same place but it's different to the new 275SSD that I have now (as per bios). The NEW SSD is now where the old 1TB HDD is - so I have THREE HDD's installed and showing up in my windows explorer as c: (the 128GB) D: (the 1tb HDD) and E: (the new 275GB SSD)

All I want to know is how to change the order of boot up (if I need to) so that my new SSD (275GB) is now showing as the main C: and not the E: drive which it is currently :)
