Permanantly removing a device driver in Windows 10

I have a built in card reader in my Median laptop. It always makes the connect sound as detected by my laptop for the first time but then makes the disconnect sound straight away. Annoying and no good when watching catch-up TV.

Nor does removing the driver makes no difference. Nor does disabling the device either. It is simply detected right away. Any way to disable device permanently?

Unless of course the device is failing physically in some way!!!

Install wrong driver for it, then you can disable it, at least until the next upgrade.

Select your device then - Update Driver - Browse my computer for driver software - Let me pick from a list ...

Uncheck "Show Compatible hardware" - pick anything, that was not listed before - Next - Disable the device.

You might need to disable Windows automatically downloading drivers. You can do this, only of it does.
