    Drive Easy

    Hello
Is this program safe and free? I went to that site and it listed a lot of drivers needing updating but said register on the
bottom. I closed out not knowing what the next step was.
I noticed Macrium Reflect asked me to update my network driver IF I was going to use a network back up destination.
I looked in device manager and it says Broadcom 802.11 ver. 6.30.223.256.
I cannot go to the Dell site b/c I have Windows 10 and the driver update device only recognizes my machine as Win 7.
The last time I did this with the Bios the desktop was successful but the laptop is dead 6 years old anyway).
If I can not use the manufacturer's site I was looking for a program to update that network driver that was reliable and free, if possible.
I could use a local backup drive and not upgrade the driver if it is dicey.
    Thank you
    Peter

right click on network adapter and select update driver > it will search MS driver database online..
otherwise avoid free driver sites -

If you mean Driver Easy, yes, it is reliable. You do not need to register. Free version allows a slow download and a manual install, but it is great for scanning for missing/outdated drivers, which you can then search.

@Kyhi - I took your advice. I guess the version I have is the highest I should because it remained the same.
Thank you for steering me away from those other potential disasters.

Download the Windows 7 driver from the Dell site. When it is run it unzips to a folder on the C: drive. Usually C:\Dell\Drivers or some such, take note of where it unzips. If the driver fails to install, browse to the unzipped folder, Right click Setup.exe/Properties/Compatibility. Run the setup in Compatibility mode for Windows 7.

    >.My machine has a more updated version than Dell but it was a good idea . I guess this old beast is showing signs. I replaced the HDD and PSU with keyboard, mouse and monitor.but that it for $. Most of these parts can go with a new pc anyway.
