LifeCam HD-3000 stopped working after Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Back in September 2015 I had a similar problem: Microsoft's LifeCam HD-3000 webcam stopped working when I 'upgraded' from Windows 7 to Win 10. However, a thread on Windows Ten Forums solved the problem.

So I've been a happy camper for the last 17 month. That is until the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. At least I am pretty sure that's when the LifeCam stopped working. The cam itself does not seem to be the problem--the little blue light comes on when it is engaged, the LifeCam software boots up fine, but, unfortunately, this is what I see:

The webcam is appropriately connected to a USB 2.0 port and, according to Windows, it is functioning properly:

The webcam also does not work via the Windows 10 Camera app, and on a video chat site (black screen on both).

I have detailed my attempts to fix this problem over on the Microsoft Support site: Need help troubleshooting Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 Not Working

Can you all think of anything else I can do?

    Many thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark.

I don't think I read it in your solutions, is the privacy setting for camera set properly under Privacy Settings.

Will the camera work in Safe mode (don't think I saw that mentioned, long MS thread.)

Thank you so much for responding Ken.

"Let apps use Camera" is ON in Privacy Settings.

Webcam did not work in Safe mode.

New info: I purchased a Logitech C310 HD Webcam thinking the Lifecam was the problem. Wrong. I have the same problem with the Logitech.

    Afternoon Mark

In your screen shot over at Microsoft one of the drivers available was USB Video Device.

    Have you tried that driver?

    Edit 1

While you said you are on Anniversary Update and you fully up to date with all cumulative updates. This article caught my attention.

I have to believe this has been resolved but you would need to be patched.

And if the above is true .....

Make sure you have a restore point and if you change registry read about making a backup or a backup on the piece of the registry you are changing. I have not tried these changes, I simply found.

Yeah, I tried the Registry edit thing too.

Thanks so much for your suggestions though. Much appreciated!

Hopefully another member will have a suggestion that works.

I mean short of a clean install, to get a webcam running, is crazy.
