Can't install new WiFi driver software

edit: I was able to install the supposed correct WiFi driver yet the problem remains. I l lose connectivity as soon as I walk outside my house. May post in another section for help. Can't figure out how to delete this post so feel free.

My laptop loses wifi connectivity as soon as walk outside my house, even if I am literally on the other side of the wall from my router. All other computers in the house have no issue so I assume its something with the WiFi driver. I would like to update it but any attempts to install new driver software I am told I have the most up to date driver.

    Acer Aspire V5-572P-4429

Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter
    Driver Version: 3.0.2.201

I got to Acer's site and download the driver. I attempt to install by browsing to the folder and am told Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date. How do I install this driver software?

    Hi bru

Might I suggest this free tool to allow you to see your wifi signal.

    inSSIDer 3.1.2.1 Download - TechSpot

I would also see if some neighbours signal jumps in strength when you leave the house. Doesn't explain why others work and yours doesn't. You didn't mention which bands are they using, 2.4 or 5 and which you are using?

I might also shut off WiFi sense and everything related to attaching to open hotspots. Start => Settings => Network and Internet => Wi-Fi

Midway down right hand page, Wi-Fi Sense and options below that, off

All the settings related to WiFi sense are toggled off. As they are on all my computers.

The computer having the issue has both 2.4 and 5. In the house I use 5 but it doesn't matter which one I am using, as soon as I step out of the house I lose connection, and can't get it back. For each band I am on channels that are the least crowded. I am not talking about going very far, literally when I step out of my front door, my WiFi is still the strongest signal yet I lose it.

So with inSSider running what is the signal strength just inside your doorway and just outside.

If you go to your adapter in device manager and look at the settings under the "Advanced" tab are they similar to those of the computers that work. Every card is different and the options are different but I'm wondering if you can see any notable differences.

On one computer I have Roaming sensitivity and on another Roaming aggressiveness.

Also check that under your Power Management Pan, Advance, The Wireless Adapter is set to maximum performance.
