Though you may not think so there are some performance gains and improvements if you choose to read the version notes. One should always get the latest version of any software supporting their system for stability and performance sake.
Whether you actually see of feel this performance is a different story. This is also where benchmarking comes into play.
My two cents.
Again the chipset inf files are not drivers, aside from getting devices recognised, its not the same as a graphics or audio or other device drivers that have sys files, that fix bugs improve performance etc.

It is important I think to get all pieces of the hardware properly recognised where the chipset is concerned, but the performance here is unaffected by upgrading the chipset INF at a later date...Intel said:

The "Notes" are there to inform users of any updates, known issues, and resolved issues. This particular update addresses Xenon and Skylake processors. That's my point - that they do provide enhancements/improvement. They may not apply to you, but they apply to someone. Thus my counter to your statement.

However they all claim no issues except the date is 1970/01/01 for the recognised devices supported under this version that to me is a known issue, though it wont affect anything.
