Intel chipset driver is found in Control Panel - Programs and Features
To add to your confusion, the chipset software is absent from my Programs and Features although the chipset version is present in Registry.

To further confuse the Intel driver info is in CP but the Registry entries are blank.

Why must the support for HEDT platforms be cut so soon?
Only the X299 is supported, but not the previous X99.

Whilst for the other platforms, the support goes several generations back
    (like for the H, B , Q and Z chipsets).

Driver support doesn't even go one generation back, for the HEDT platform.

I have a STRIX-Z370 that has a Core i7-8086K CPU. Should I be using this driver instead of the one I find on ASUS's website?

    Hello,

I would always recommend to use the latest driver from the manufacturer (OEM) instead since it would be more specific.
