Unblocking is when you right click the zip file , and open to properties, and unblock is in the bottom right corner.
But it is not always necessary to do it, if Windows doesn't give a warning, but sometimes it just helps.
I just checked and there is no "unblock" when I open properties for the zip file. I have no idea why this will not install and unfortunately thinking my old installation might have been the problem i have uninstalled it and deleted the intel management utility folder. not sure what impact this will now have on my system.

Just tried using your alternate method and it said it had updated the drivers. When I checked their properties however, it said they were of 2017 vintage yet I got the package from ASUS today dated end of May this year ... surely then the updated driver should be dated this year..... 2018????

For the 370 boards, 2017 are the latest, I believe.

    Hi,

Nope, that's a package time stamp. Nothing to do with the software version date and so on.

    Cheers,

It isn't the chipset driver, is the driver for the Intel Management Engine, a "security" co-processor.

Found it myself yesterday, but its readme.txt suggests that it's possibly different subset of devices?

Or am I reading it incorrectly?

    So confusing!

This is the part that confuses me

    1. It is mandatory that the Intel(R) Chipset Device Software
be installed onto the target system prior to the
    installation of other drivers.

Yeah the other drivers may not recognise the system correctly if the system is not identified correctly. Newer drivers may attempt to overwrite the older ones. With these, 'newer' ones may overwrite these, which is why the 'date' is symbolic.

They are fallback drivers. If you update with these and OEM device drivers you do not need the OEM version of the chipset driver.
