Using RAM faster than 1866 MHz with an AMD FX-8350. Possible?

I have an FX-8350 and some DDR3-2400 Mushkin RAM. I have found that running the RAM any faster than 1866 MHz makes the memory controller cranky and I get memory errors. I have tried the RAM at the recommended timings and voltage for 2400 and 2133, as well as using looser timings with those speeds and no luck at all. Past 1866 MHz and I get memory problems.

So my question is this: Is this a limitation of the FX-8350's memory controller? Or am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have experience running faster RAM with this CPU?

On the AMD FX series the max ram speed is 1866Mhz , this is according to the specification I read when I first setup my AMD PC's.

Your best bet is to reset your settings in bios then downclock your ram to 1866Mhz (& don't touch any voltages or other ram settings), this will give you better latency & keep the CPU Ram Controller Happy...

I thought that a speed limitation might have been the case. Thanks for confirming that for me.
