Windows 10: Black screen with cursor after logging in (win10)
Black screen with cursor after logging in (win10)
I Have Dell inspiron 15R N5110. Have been seeing a black screen with cursor after login to windows. I rarely see the desktop but after leaving the laptop turned for long time, maybe hours. But when i click on my computer or pressing ctrl + A it takes secs or even mins to respond, and doesn't reapond if i tries to open my computer or anything.
I tried the diagnostics on the startup and found the following results:
Error code 2000-0333
Msg: video-user provided no input for graphic test
Error code 2000-0142
Msg: Harf drive O-S/N WD-WX41E4131137, self test unsuccessful. Status=7
I dunno what is the problem exactly
That sounds like the hard drive is failing, and Status=7 is a failure on WD drives. Hope you have a backup. You can run chkdsk to check and possibly fix, but I've always heard that once they are going, they are going. I'm no expert though, so YMMV. Someone more knowledgable than me will probably be along soon. But, I'd be wanting my files off that drive if I didn't have a backup already.

I've see this on every computer with Windows 10 installed. Log out to switch to another user and you're hit with a black screen and cursor. Witnessed it on Intel, AMD and Nvidia hardware.
Does MS even acknowledge this and is a fix inbound?
