Asus AC 765 USB3 wifi adapter on 5GHZ -- speed OOKLA OFF the scale

    Hi there

This wifi adapter seems to be an exceptionally good piece of kit

Getting off the scale OOKLA readings from nearly 200 metres from the router --I'm in the shed (avoiding doing the cooking tonight !!!)

ASUS AC 765 dual band wifi adapter

Had to logon to OOKLA in UK to get the test but it worked fine - remember this is via WIFI not LAN and at 200m from router the receiver was at probably the limit of passable reception. (For US people who were watching the Super bowl 200m is about 207 Yards / 620 feet or so in old Imperial units -- Queen Victoria got that a bit wrong though !!!! !!).

My standard built in Wifi card barely got anything even at 2.4GHZ and gave a pathetic result of around 1 Mib/s !!!

I switched off the Intel internal wifi card in the laptop and plugged the Asus one into a USB 3 port -- even with a USB3 hub and it still works brilliantly --you need though to screw the longer atenna in that comes with the product.

Recommend if you want to use 5GHZ band without repeaters etc and you are a long way from the router.

Of course there are faster speeds out there --but remember I'm in a Shed at least 200m from the router on 5GHZ and using Wifi.

If I can ask, how much are you paying for that internet service? It's definitely my internet connect that limits my speed, not my 5.0 GHZ AC WiFi connection. I cap out about 56 Mbps.

I'm paying $70 US for mine per month with a very high data cap, though. About 56 British Pounds per month.
