    bothersome recycle bin error message in external HDD -how to fix?


    iam seeing a popup everytime I turn on pc.."recycle bin in external drive is corrupt. prompts me to empty it or not..why is it showing like that and how to fix it

    Hello Pathfinder, :)

    You might see if using Method One in the tutorial below to delete the $Recycle.bin for the H: drive may help.

    I did cmd but it said access denied hmm

    Just to verify, did you run the command in an elevated command prompt?

    Is the external HD being plugged into the same usb port every time? And, is the external HD, if being plugged into the same usb port every time, assigned a drive letter?

    I still need to know this :) -- to help hunt down what is causing the Recycle Bin problem.

    DOH. yes, its plugged in same port and has the drive letter assigned as (H)

    Just to verify, did you use the command below:

    RD /S /Q H:\$Recycle.bin

    If so, then the message indicates that the "H:\$Recycle.bin" file has already been deleted.

    Do you still get the error message from the 1st post now?
