Microsoft Windows 10 camera 3 hour limit

The camera on my PC is nicer than any smartphone camera I owned but when I turn it on and let it record it always stops at the 3 hour mark, giving a message that I'm out of memory. Theres about 100 GB free space on my PC and with the highest resolution (16:9 1280x720) only about 1GB of space is taken, obviously I am not out of space. When I turn the resolution down to the lowest (11:9 176x288) the camera still cuts off at exactly 3 hours with the same notification. Is there something I can modify in the registry to remove this 3 hour limit? Also note that if I use timelapse it cuts off at 878 pics (30 minutes, 118 MB) giving the same notification, that I'm out of space.

    Hi,

Try to find out which process is inflating, it's most of the time related to drivers. The out of memory error does not come from your storage space but from the RAM installed and how the programs are using it.

Does the camera show in --- Settings >Devices ---and if so you should be able to run the troubleshooter and alter default settings.
There should be access to the camera controls on your computer.
If you consider changing Registry values, please don't forget to backup the Registry first.

While running the camera uses 3-5% CPU, 1.1% GPU and 45 MB RAM. Not much. Nowhere near topping out. File Explorer uses more while open. I think the cutting off is a program preset.

Camera Settings are awfully limited as the Microsoft app is very basic and simplified. You can adjust the resolution and the light/dark balance and turn on flicker reduction, thats all there is.
