Unable to convert 7 partition disk (basic) to dynamic disk

I am running Windows 10 Pro.

I have an old 1Tb drive that used to be the boot (C) drive and also had partitions for two additional drives.
I since replaced that 1Tb drive with an SSD and another 2Tb second internal drive.

I've inserted the 1Tb in an external USB SATA dock. In Disk Management I was able to delete all the data volumes on the 1Tb, which then formed two unallocated sections, but there are 4 other partitions that I was not able to deleteDiskMgmtScreenShot.docx.

I then tried to convert the drive to a dynamic disk, but got an error saying "The operation is not supported by the object."

    See attachment for screen shots.DiskMgmtScreenShot.docx

Is there any way to just reformat the entire drive, or to remove the partitions? I don't see FDisk in Windows 10.

How about putting this drive in the internal bay, and attempt to reformat it with the Windows 7 install disk, and just tell it to remove all partitions?

    Open Admin command and type:
    diskpart
select disk 6 Note: your doc shows this as disk 6, if different then change it to the correct #
    clean
    exit

Open disk management and initalize the disk then format.

    That worked.

    Thanks.

When initializing the disk, which is better? MBR or GPT?

GPT will support HD > 2TB capacity, 128 primary partitions
MBR limited to 2TB capacity HD, 4 primary partitions
So it's up to you. The speed won't affect either GPT or MBR.
