My new Dell Inspiron 13 5378 touchscreen won't work

My new Dell Inspiron 13 5378 laptop's touchscreen just stopped working on me. I am not sure if it was after an update or not.

I have already googled ways to fix it, and disabling and re-enabling the touchscreen through the device manager didn't work. All drivers are up to date, and according to the computer, touchscreen is working fine. It is brand new, there has been no damage at all. I am not sure where to go from here, your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

If it is new, best option is to call Dell support. If it turns out to be a hardware problem, only Dell support can get it repaired under warranty.

Mine worked for 3 days, then Windows 10 did some autoupdating (which you can't turn off.. ahem) and it quit working.

Then, I found if I let the computer goto sleep the touch screen would work when it was turned back on. Then, after a week of working, it quit.

There are a few things that work for some folks online, like turning off power management etc.. I tried them all and mine is still very unreliable (Inspiron 13 7368). Hasn't worked for 3 weeks now... but I am sure the next reboot it will start again.

Overall I'd just avoid these laptops - the touchscreen is terrible even when working (it is NOT one of the pressure sensitive ones that can work with pens to do drawing/etc... that went away in early 2016 models).. and combine that with the ridiculous placement of the power button (where you hit it to turn it off everytime you reposition it on your desk/lap, or someone grabs it to angle the screen, etc).

You can also have a read Troubleshooting Touchscreen Issues in Microsoft Windows 7, 8(8.1) and 10.

HP also has THIS which looks mostly vendor generic

You can also try Dell support. But before anything you try on your own, best first check your return options to make sure any warranty expiration dates don't expire

    Touchscreen stopped working

My Dell Inspiron15 screen stopped working... I fixed it, Here's how:
Go to settings ... Device Manager ... Human Interface Devices ... HID Compliant touchscreen ...
Click on driver ... look down the list, if it says enable click it (This may be the solution ) / if it says disable then go to uninstall ...
Click uninstall (scary I know )
Turn off your computer, wait about 30 seconds ... turn on computer .. Screen should work ..
    Mine did ... Good Luck
