I think it was after I restored, anything you recommend? Should I mark the thread as solved or continue? If I can avoid it I'd rather try and troubleshoot the problem than buying a dongle, I have considered it though.

If your problem is not solved you don't have to mark anything solved.

You may wish to continue trouble shooting but from the sounds of your own description your overall environment has gone a little weird so it maybe quicker and less stressful to start again.

Not sure how comfortable you feel doing this but I would reseat your wireless just to be sure. Now if you are lucky the card is readily accessible. You can search youtube for a disassembly video for your specif model. If the card is buried forget this step. Some are located right under lower cover. (Power off your device and touch something to ground yourself so you don't introduce a shock.)

With this done I would backup my data to a device that you can disconnect from your laptop.

With this done I would refresh Windows, disconnected from the internet, keeping your files, and I would immediately prevent Windows from downloading device drivers. Once done perform your window updates.

I think it is important that we use the same language. In your most recent most you said you restored, which I assume is from a restore point. I'm suggesting a refresh which you access from the Windows trouble shooting menu when you boot.

My thinking is this should reset weirdness and I would think from your earlier posts your bluetooth should work.

    Thoughts?

Sorry for late reply (Christmas madness). Yes I think it was after the reset. Also I have thought about getting a dongle but If I could I'd rather troubleshoot the problem though if it's unsolvable then I will.

I believe from your description that your device works and it has the wrong drivers, just my feeling. Some people hate the idea but a clean install, with your data backed up to a device off your computer, is where I would start. I also suggested you do a refresh. Yes there is work installing programs and setting thing up with a clean install but it may the most direct route. If after a clean install and some research into what is recognized in your device manager you can put the possible hardware issue to bed.

Not even sure how you trouble shoot weirdness. You mentioned things enabling, disabling, loading your mouse, etc. Is this still happening?
