Well, at this point I am asking "why lose time with MS and its funny people"?
I suggest you to UNINSTALL those Updates, that will probably put the Devices back to the Original Win Release.
If you really need the "updates (downgrades)" , look at Windows Catalog and look for the last Update that still works and install it.
    After that, DISABLE Windows UPDATE!
MS may be think we are Slaves , and they can do what they want.

    Hi

I agree that this is a possible solution, but we will like to do the updates, and if we can find a program that can format the cards is it easier than to remote control all the tables and remove the update one at the time.
The batch file can be updated one place and it will be copied to all automatically.

Why do you have to Format the Drive every time it is inserted ? once it is partition type 0x06 (using MTPW or win8.1) , is it not possible to just remove the contents of the CARD and write the new data to it with the batch file?

    Hi KB

I agree, but right now do we have a unknown number of cards formatted in the wrong partition type and those will we need to format. And then have experience learn us that when formatting the card did we have less problems with the cards - until now.....

    Hi AirMech,
some thoughts, of the topic, next time will MS force you to Update Helicopters?
Me as you and the huge cloud of people are Professionals that are "tied down" to Windows.
At first they remove Win32Help in W8.1 and W10.
Few weeks ago they remove the support for same Video/Audio codecs, that made a huge quantity of Web-Cams unusable.
Now, they remove without warning or asking, the most oldest Format from system, and more irritating is the answer "We don not care about your problem".
    What will they remove next?
So far I can see, MS is in the Course of Killing anything that is "Old", from DOS time own wards, in a "try" to force everybody to go to the Universal Apps from their Store .
Surely we can say they are not caring very much about "old" Software around, neither they are interested in any Problems people may suffering.
At this point I have to ask myself if I want to go that path of making "old" things unusable. Well, from my side, I was just looking to have stable version of W10 and I will disable all Updates, I do not need them, they bringing more problems with it than solving.
We have to keep a "Cold Head" and face the reality.
I have been losing huge time this year fixing what that "Updates" were breaking .
If I was in your position, I would think very well about this, imagine next time nothing is working any longer , you have to buy new Helicopters

Reformatting the Cards in Windows to 0x06 isn't an issue , most Partitioning Program like MTPW or Aomei can do it or even a Simple small Program like SD Formatter V3 or V4 from the SD Card Association uses Fat 0x06 automatically as far as I can tell/test. It is running a program from a Batch file to do it automatically with no User input that maybe but someone smarter than me maybe able to invoke SD Formatter from the batch file (no issue) and run it without someone hitting the ok button ?

    https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html

I tried copying back Format.com from a backup made before the Win10 AU update but it would not run due to some dependency issues
with .dlls ( and I was surprised I could not delete the file from the System32 Folder afterwards)

    Hi KB

    Thank you for your efforts.

We tried also to copy the format.com from win 7,8 and pre-update win 10. With same result. And as I see it will the best solution for us to find a 3rd party software that can run from the command prompt, then will it work but I don't know if it's out there because until now have MS worked.

    Best Regards

it is a SHAME that people are forced to look around the World for a solution , just because MS removed support, just like that!

    Hi

I agree, and we will need to discuss if we instead of purchase new tables with win 8 should switch to a OS like Linux.

Hi AirMech , is the Tablet you use capable of Booting a USB-key? I had a thought earlier and just tested it , and WinPe has not been updated yet so WinPe based Boot Disks can format your card Fat16 - 0x06 still as WinPe uses the old Format.com. Once Kyhi's Disk is booted it looks and feels like Win10 too. I don't have your script/.bat to test but using File Explorer worked fine on my sd-card.

I tested it with Kyhi's WinPE Rescue Disk 160707 available HERE on Ten Forum's , it also includes multiple other Apps you may or may not find useful.
