    Win10 on a HP DL580 G5 Server

    Hallo,
I have gotten a low budget HP DL580 G5 Server from here for only 179,99 without system software, but 32GB Ram, 300GB SAS HD,
The server doesnt support Windows Server 2012. May I install Win10 on it and use his server components? A new licence for Win10 costs 30 Euro in internet.
I need the server only as my media center for sahring, games and films.
If not, can anyone tell me where I can get cheap Windows Server 2008?
    Tks
    Ute

    Welcome to the forum.

The server doesnt support Windows Server 2012
Do you know the reason for that?

If the server doesn't support Server 2012 the chances of it supporting Windows 10 are not good. If HP doesn't supply drivers for Server 2012 they won't for Windows 10 either. HP has stated they do not support Windows 10 on systems older then 2009 which yours appears to be.

Can't help you with Server 2008. I do know that the popular free AV products will by design not run on a server OS. Microsoft Security Essentials (or Windows Defender) will not. They want you to buy their rather more expensive server versions.
