Having issues with My Book Live Duo personal cloud on Windows 10?

    Hello,

Is anyone else having issues with My Book Live Duo personal cloud on Windows 10?

On windows 7 and Windows 8.1 the device was always found and could be used for my system backups.

On my new machine, Dell XPS 8900, running Windows 10 Pro the drive disappears.

I had setup File History to backup to My Book Live Duo and it works for a couple of days and then the backup fails due to the drive not being found.

I tried to contact Western Digital, but my device was "Out of Warranty' So much for customer service, but that is another issue.

Has anyone had this issue who may have found a solution?

    Thanks

    Stu

There are lots of posts on various forums concerning external HDs not being recognised by Windows 10, I had the same problem myself with a Seagate. I had to continuously unplug the device from the USB & power for it to be recognised, I eventually copied all the contents to my PC & used diskpart to clean it, then initialised it to use .gpt within disk management. Worked for a while then it would only read 2Tb of the 5Tb drive so bought an new 3Tb drive.
My 8 Tb has had no problems but that is left plugged in.

You could try unplugging the HD from the mains & USB then plugging in again.
