    RAM Upgrade

    Hi,

I`m planning to upgrade my Inspiron 1545 RAM from 2GB to 3GB DDR2 - the 2GB DDR2 ram is more expensive than the DDR4 . I was going to buy 2x2GB DDR3 because my chipset supports it but then found out that my installed memory was DDR2 - so no joy. My question is will the RAM - 2+1 work in Dual channel?

    Thanks, werty

No, they will not. For DUAL channel to work ,both modules need to be the same in size and latency...

What you can do is put another 2GB module in it. Your chipset may support DDR3 but are the slots built for that as well (they have different pins)??
IMHO you are bound to have DDR2 in it. Since this is an older Laptop (came with Vista) you might not even be able to use all 4GB but less than 3.5GB instead. Can you go to a shop and try it??

I undertstand. The laptop support up to 8GB RAM and I`m running Windows 10 64-bit so I will be able to use all 4GB. Right now I can`t go to shop. Thanks for your help
