Its not really needed much anymore, I would do your clean install without it 1st, then check on how your Windows runs. I uninstalled mine right after our Anniversary Update. Have had no problems.

I have only the driver installed, not the complete package with the application.
Still the old rule remains the same, first the chipset drivers (INF files), then the rest

By seeing your System Spec, My Suggestion is to stick with Lenovo Smart Assistant because Not all Intel Drivers are Universal some Drivers are custom build
if you are using some other Brand Laptop/Desktop you should install your particular Assistant Software

If you refer to my specs, the only Lenovo app which is running on my notebook is the Energymanager.
All others are upgraded to the latest drivers. Lenovo and other manufacturers are too slowly until they offer updates (if they do) because they all have a very long approval process.
And most drivers are equal to what the manufacturers offer like Intel, Realtek and so on.
Beside, I plan to make a new clan setup of my notebook and Redstone expects now new certified drivers (which Lenovo doesn't offer)

    Cheers

    Couldn't agree more
it takes forever to get an update by manufacturers
but on my HP laptop I can't update my Graphic Drive from the Intel it gives an Error by saying you have a Custom Graphic Driver and on HP forum thy replied saying HP Graphic is customized for better battery life

I have a HP notebook at work, I know what you mean.
However, it is not true that their drivers are optimized for better battery life. When you compare the driver package for the graphics from HP and Intel, you will find they are identical. Maybe the INF file contains less entries, but the binaries are the same.
Good news, you can force manually the update by device manager and INF file, after that the restriction is gone.

    Cheers
