That's your SSD's firmware version. FWIW, that is the latest version for your 850 Pro, according to: SSD Tools & Software | Download | Samsung V-NAND SSD | Samsung Semiconductor Global Website

Well, I think I will leave everything alone and keep what I am using for now.

I install it on a few secondary OS's that I have multi-booted on an EVO 850. It's not on my NMVe 961 boot drive since it will not recognize the 961. I use it only for the boost in performance, which I'll admit is iffy at best. The UI is of little value to me, I can get the health info thru CrystaldiskInfo.

So, to answer your question, least in my case, It's installed because it's there and gives some performance enchancement. No other good reason.

The utility is useful in providing a lot of info about the drive(s) as well as providing a lot of useful tools in managing them. Keeping the latest updates insures no issue. If this is something you don't feel is useful don't install it.

And "bloated" is a matter of opinion as I neither find it bloated nor useless.
