    For Performance Optimization Magician

Magician uses basic Windows defragmentation optimization ...

I have disabled at home ... under Windows and Magician

The best for it ... Diskeeper 12 (the 15 does not manage or does not manage ? the external disks)

The difference is that Diskeeper manages the placement of files at their creation

From what I read on the forums here and elsewhere, defragging a SSD is a no no and all you really need to do is trim the drive.

You are correct, never ever defrag an SSD, it'l mess it up and possibly cease to function. I had an ancient OCZ Vertex 2 do that back in the day.

    Hi,

I still have the same OCZ Vertex II is an aging Dell Optiplex 745, lol. And.... it's still 100% good.

I don't remember what version on it is but Diskeeper 12 and later and their SSDkeeper does NOT defrag an SSD but it prevents unnecessay reads/writes by using clever cacheing software. Speeding things up in the process.

In fact most older Diskkeeper software was also SSD aware.

    Hi,

Yep, mine as well. I opened up the casing a while back, boy are those semi's huge compared to what we have nowadays.
You know OCZ is now part of Toshiba, right ?

But currently no defragmentation software does that. Not even Windows!
As soon as an SSD is detected, these Software and Windows are only optimization.
    And that is well indicated.

Windows Defrag now is called Optimize Drive. You can Optimize your SSD here but you do not have to do it more then once since it does not need to be defragged.

But it does need "Optimizing " on a regular basis which Windows will take care of.
