I agree, they should at least bring back the OP option.

The almost complete lack of options in v5.0.0 is just ridiculous. It's like they dumbed the software down to a child's level. I for one appreciate the extra options, as long as RAPID mode works (and it does, for me) and my firmware stays up to date. I went looking for the over-provisioning info and couldn't find it. I just encrypted my system partition and wanted to see if OP would still be shown as active. I guess I'll stick with v4.9.7 for awhile.

Maybe they have finally decided OP isn't really needed, if you keep your eye on the disk in File Explorer "This PC".
A lot of their tweaking stuff was waaaaaay outdated anyhow.
But, if like me, you don't want to keep an eye on it, just do it in disk management, although on larger disks the 10% rule is Bull Pancakes.

Indeed, its amazing how many old tweaks are still going the rounds on new youtube videos which have been outdated for a long time.

This is a list of them: Bad Tweaks - TweakHound

    Hi all,

Having a little grumble here about Magician 5.0. I have a new 960 Evo M.2 which I planned on running with Bitlocker using "eDrive" (aka IEE1667) and I'm pretty unhappy to find that the options to set this up have vanished. Sadly, rolling back to 4.9.7 doesn't seem an option as support for the 960 Evo was only added in 5.0.

I've raised a support call with Samsung, but if they can't sort this out, the drive is going back as it's clearly less capable than the previous generation.

Would be interested if anyone else has a solution for this.

OK, update from Samsung - IEEE-1667 (aka eDrive) is not supported on the 960 Evo drive (or, presumably, 960 Pro). I've asked if this is a permanent situation or just until a future firmware update...

Quick question about Magician 5. I built a NEW system for my wife...a Z170 based system and have 64 bit Windows 10 Pro. I have a 512 GB 850 Pro and did not change any options from the default Magician 5 install. Is there anything I should go into and configure or check?

Not unless you want to use RAPID Mode(not needed, except for bench marks, or moving files within the same disk or a RAM Disk, but and then slows down boot and shut down times).

The Samsung specs page says for both of the 960's that AES-256 bit User Data Encryption is definitely supported - so I would go back and open that Samsung support ticket again:
    Access Denied

The question I'm having trouble answering, though, is how do you turn on encryption in any of the Samsung SSDs now that the options have been removed from Magician? Literally the key selling point for me has been the self-encrypting 256-bit AES features... if I can't turn that on, I guess I'll be forced to buy a different brand of SSD!
